The current situation in Gaza, Palestine has led to immense human suffering, loss of life, and widespread displacement. It is our firm belief that continued military actions will only exacerbate the humanitarian crisis, deepen the grievances on both sides and hinder the prospects for a peaceful coexistence.
Throughout our history, it has been constrained in the minds of humankind that war and violence are inevitable to attain certain collective wants in exchange for the suffering and loss of life of others. It has been seven decades since the war has been rightly defined to be abolished and human dignity and social justice upheld in the manner of international cooperation, understanding, and solidarity among peoples. Civil society organizations such as ours are bound to uphold these values as a microcosm of society. It is within the standing values of our organization that ideals of fairness and advancing human dignity are our calling. We urge all parties involved in the conflict to prioritize the well-being of civilians and to adhere to international humanitarian law. The protection of innocent lives, respect for human rights, and the creation of conditions for a sense of sustainable peace are paramount. We call on the international community to exert diplomatic efforts in facilitating dialogue and negotiations between conflicting parties. The involvement of neutral mediators and international organizations can contribute to building trust, fostering understanding, promoting a sustainable resolution to the conflict, and asserting the deprived rights of the Palestinian people. We believe that lasting peace in the region can only be achieved through a comprehensive and inclusive approach that addresses the legitimate concerns and aspirations of all parties involved. In international fora such as climate negotiations and sustainable development, these values were echoed in statements by governments and states. We firmly believe that an immediate ceasefire, followed by sustained diplomatic efforts, is crucial for ending the suffering of the people in Gaza and for creating conditions that pave the way for a just and lasting resolution to the conflict. Our organization stands together with humanitarian CSOs and other non-government institutions calling for an immediate and sustained ceasefire and creating a humanitarian corridor for the refugees and displaced individuals of the conflict.
