In line with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the Alpha Team Organization (ATO) has always valued and recognized the endeavors of its members in their scientific pursuit and as well as their commitment in social and creative activism. We have featured some of our outstanding members who are both studying and working in the scientific field. 1. Lorrayne Isidoro GonçalvesA young achiever in neurosciences, she’s currently a Biology undergraduate student at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro). In 2016, she also became a national sensation in her country as she represented Brazil in the International Brain Bee World Championship. She is also a member of the International Youth Neuroscience Association (IYNA) in 2016 and became a presenter in TEDx Laçador in 2017. She is also the current Chief Director of the ATO – ClimatEducate Project, continually linking and leading various environmental advocates/researchers from developing countries in conceptualizing climate change education. 2. Rubina KarkiA young climate change advocate from Kathmandu, Nepal, she’s currently in her final year as an environmental science undergraduate student at Goldengate International College. In March 2016, together with John Carl Alonsagay and Crystal Maureen Santillan, they launched the ClimatEducate Project after their training with former US Vice President and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Al Gore in Manila, Philippines. She continues to work and promote climate change education as the Associate Director of the ATO – ClimatEducate Project. 3. Honey Rose AcquinA committed member of the organization, she became an ATO member since 2010. Currently, she is a fisheries undergraduate student at the University of Antique (UA-TLMC) – Tibiao, Antique, Philippines. She is also currently engaged with the ATO – Mag-aba Mangrove Reforestation Project (MMRP) hoping to promote and work for the conservation of their community’s mangrove forests and aquatic resources. 4. Lara SantosA passionate ClimatEducate Project Member from Brazil, she is currently a chemistry undergraduate student at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). She’s also a medalist in the 3rd Brazilian Geography Olympiad, the Technovation Challenge and member of the Brazilian Youth Parliament in 2017. Recently, she also became a speaker for the 1st Virtual Conference of Youth Leadership. 5. Maria José de Oliveira CostaAnother passionate ClimatEducate Project Member from Brazil, she is currently a social work undergraduate student at the University of Potiguar (UnP). She was coordinator of the 12th DIREC Fair and Science Fair of the José de Anchieta State School (EEPJA) since 2017. 6. Suzana Varjão She is currently the Project Advocacy Head for Brazil of the ATO – ClimatEducate Project in South America (Projeto ClimatEducate na America do Sul). She is also an electrical engineering undergraduate student at the Federal University of Bahia (Ufba). She is previously a participant in the “Teach in Service Program”, a project aimed at demystifying natural science students in passing basic engineering projects/outputs. She is also the Enactus Co-founder of the Entrepreneurial Action Support Project and has great interest in the environmental protection and conservation which made her in leading two non-online initiatives of the Project in 2017. 7. Nathalia Pires MonteiroShe is another active member from the ATO – ClimatEducate Project in South America (Projeto ClimatEducate na America do Sul). She is currently a chemical engineering undergraduate student at the Fluminense Federal University (UFF) in Brazil. Her achievements are highlighted when she was the co-recipient of the NASA Rover Challenge – Best International Team Award in 2017. She is also a participant of the Brazilian Robotics Olympiad, an honorable mention at the Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad of the Public Schools (OBMEP) and a volunteer in her university’s pre-vestibular community course. She has been engaged with ATO since early 2017. [END] She is another active member from the ATO – ClimatEducate Project in South America (Projeto ClimatEducate na America do Sul). Agber Kwaghdoo SussanShe is a passionate member of ATO - ClimatEducate Project in Nigeria, a graduate of Forestry (Wildlife and range management) from the University of Agriculture Makurdi, Benue state, Nigeria. She is currently engaged in enhancing my capacity building delivery in the field of climate change and forest conservation , promoting climate change education in schools and hoping to to promote and work for the conservation of terrestrial protected areas and its natural resources. 9. Maysa MawallaShe is another project member of the ATO - ClimatEducate Project from Sudan, She earned her degree from the University of Khartoum - Faculty of Dentistry in November 2016. She is currently working for her internship at Khartoum Dental Teaching Hospital. She is also a member of IADS training committee, a Peace Fellow at World Peace Initiative (Peace Revolution), a Volunteer at Patient Support organization and Global Aid Hand Organization.
